![]() ![]() This design approach has often been titled as gamification, and it has been defined as a design approach that seeks to induce similar experiences as games, in the context of other systems and services ( Deterding, Dixon, Khaled, & Nacke, 2011 Huotari & Hamari, 2017). Thus, system and service designers are seeking to harness the motivational elements of games and use them to create similar engagement in other contexts. Games are known to excel in engaging us to play them, even for long periods of time ( Ryan, Rigby, & Przybylski, 2006). In recent years, we have witnessed an upsurge in how game-like elements and interactions are being employed in various nongame contexts ( Koivisto & Hamari, 2019).
